60 seconds with…Fredrick Von Maltzahn, Managing Director, CTV Lifts

Tell us about your business, when was it formed and what do you do?
CTV Lifts was originally formed in 1998 to support companies in the lift industry that specialise in lift modernisation and new installations. We design and produce a range of BS and EN-compliant products, including bespoke passenger and goods lifts, lift cars and slings. CTV also manufactures MRL and Hydraulic Lift Packages. CTV also manufactures home and low-speed lifts that comply with the Machine Directive 2006/42/EU, and soon to comply with the EU Machinery Regulation 2023/1230/EU.
Who are your customers? Which markets do you serve?
CTV Lifts serve and collaborate on projects with local independent, national and global lift companies that undertake lift modernisation, full replacement, and the installation of new lifts. Our primary markets are in the UK and Europe, and we also supply customers located in North Africa and East Asia. We are immensely proud of the close working relationships we have developed over the years with our customers.
How many times have you been to LIFTEX?
This will be our third time exhibiting at LIFTEX, and we are really delighted with the opportunity LIFTEX gives us to have face-to-face meetings with our existing customers and friends, along with the prospect of meeting with new customers and introducing them to CTV.
What are the main issues that your customers deal with and how do you help them?
Balancing quality, reliability & pricing in a highly competitive market. CTV has a no-compromise policy relating to quality & reliability. However, we understand the challenges in the UK market & work with our customers to provide competitive pricing on both complex projects and complete lift packages. Our in-house design team works closely with our customers & their consultants to ensure that what we manufacture not only complies with regulatory standards but also with the specification given.
Are there any issues that specifiers, contractors / owners should be aware of in the next 12 months?
One of the main concerns in the UK market is that of the Building Safety Act 2022 & how it relates to fire safety, evacuation a& how lifts behave in the event of a fire. Our technical and design teams closely monitor changing legislation in all the countries where we sell products. We take a thorough approach towards our understanding and application of the local statutory requirements placed on our products. We are always happy to discuss compliance issues at the initial stages of any project.
How can we, as an industry, help designers and building owners to become more energy efficient and meet Net Zero targets?
Where possible, partner or purchase from suppliers that have a clear environmental policy and NET Zero objective. CTV has a 3-step approach towards sustainability, which includes reducing our annual energy costs. Current savings of 86% of the energy we now use are self-generated, with surplus energy being exported to the local grid.
During 2025, we are initiating a fully auditable carbon offset scheme to help with our objective of being carbon neutral by the beginning of 2030.
What will you be promoting / what can visitors expect to see on your stand?
As a relationship-driven business, we are also looking forward to welcoming both existing and new customers to our stand to discuss some of the recent additions to our product range and share how we support customers in collaborative projects. We will also be bringing some Spanish hospitality to the show for our visitors.
What advice would you give to anyone visiting the show? What should they look for and how can they get the most from their visit?
Take your time and use the exhibitor list to plan your visit before you arrive, as time will pass quickly.
